Tea Time

Psalms 23 ~ The LORD  is  my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou  art  with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. KJV I look after my granddaughters after school four days a week. A set of twins who are seven and a six year old. They are a lively bunch! I have been having Tea Time with them since they were wee little (smiles). I make some special treats for us to have our tea. They love adding sugar maybe a little too much.  I set...

Finding Joy & Hope in the Bible

Psalm 31:1-2  I love the Word of God! What a comfort is has been to me for the last twenty-seven years of walking out my faith with Jesus. The Bible says in Psalm 34:19  “ Many are the afflictions of the righteous : but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” (KJV)  AMEN!  Are you believing that? I am. I do! I found comfort in these chapters today. Psalm chapters 30-34 have given me such hope this morning. We have so much going on in our lives. We hear so much unrest, negativity & chaos coming out of the world. My heart weighs heavy. But I come away from all of it and find quietness & rest in the word of God. I renews my spirit & my thinking every time. It never fails. God never fails. I exchange my feelings my unrest for the truth & firmness of the word which tells  me “ .. the earth is FULL  of the GOODNESS of the Lord! (Psalm33:5) ! Again it tells me to Rejoice in the Lord O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the uprigh...

Bible Study Notes1 & 2 Corinthians

Image
“For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. “  (1 Corinthians 1:17) •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• •Paul preached the GOSPEL. No need for fancy words or special effects . “Lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.”  WOW! This scripture stuck out to me in my study of 1 Corinthians. Are we guilty of this? Do we try to reach souls with more than just the power of the Holy Spirit? Has the cross of Christ lost its power here in the USA? Have we made the cross of Christ less offensive by dulling the message? Do we try in our own wisdom to  make  Jesus “cool” to the world? Have we been entertaining the masses with cleaver sounding celebrity preachers & worship bands/singers? Are people in the world being drawn to the churches because they see the reality of Christ on the cross through the gospel being preached exposing sin? People ...
