“For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. “

•Paul preached the GOSPEL. No need for fancy words or special effects . “Lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.” 
WOW! This scripture stuck out to me in my study of 1 Corinthians. Are we guilty of this? Do we try to reach souls with more than just the power of the Holy Spirit? Has the cross of Christ lost its power here in the USA? Have we made the cross of Christ less offensive by dulling the message? Do we try in our own wisdom to  make  Jesus “cool” to the world? Have we been entertaining the masses with cleaver sounding celebrity preachers & worship bands/singers? Are people in the world being drawn to the churches because they see the reality of Christ on the cross through the gospel being preached exposing sin? People need to hear the bad news to appreciate the Good News. “For the wages of sin is death , but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. ( Romans 6:23) Preach in the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember Him? Just some thoughts from my notes . What’s Your thoughts , if any , regarding this scripture? Leave a comment below.

This is my response to a post on a  Pastor’s page ( his response was he was saddened for his “dismissal “) to his response about the news on Carl Lentz being fired from his position. -Forgive me and I say this with much respect - You are saddened to hear of his “dismissal “?!   Why not call it what it is . I’m saddened that he committed an adulterous relationship .  Aren’t you?  I’m saddened that another marriage has been dreadfully violated. I’m saddened that another man of God ,   fell to the temptations of the flesh .       Isaiah 24:1-23 “1  Look! The L ORD  is about to destroy the earth and make it a vast wasteland. He devastates the surface of the earth and scatters the people. 2  Priests and laypeople, servants and masters, maids and mistresses, buyers and sellers, lenders and borrowers, bankers and debtors--none will be spared. 3  The earth will be completely emptied and looted.
