A Prayer

Image
Prayer Make us Thy mountaineers; We would not linger on the lower slope, Fill us afresh with hope, O God of Hope, That, undefeated, we may climb the hill As seeing Him who is invisible. Let us die climbing. When this little while Lies far behind us, and the last defile Is all alight, and in that light we see Our Leader and our Lord, what will it be? –  Amy Carmichael , author, missionary, great Christian of the 19th and 20th centuries

Books From Wise Women

Image
These women still make an impact. Their testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and his work in their lives is such a witness to me. John 12:3 tells the story of Mary of Bethany. “    Mary therefore took a pound   of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.”  Mary broke the box of precious ointment and poured it on Jesus’ feet. It was an act of worship. Some in the room thought it to be a waste. It is a procedure of daily surrender: a practice in faith, a practice in obedience. A Christian living in the compromise of partial surrender has a really difficult life. Nobody can serve two masters. When you read this now, perhaps you are saying, “Yes, I see. But my faith is not very strong.” But you must not look at your faith ; you must look at the Lord.” “God cleanses what He takes; He empties what He cleanses; He fills what He empties; And He uses what He fills.” Amen. Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in his wonderful face. We must not look at ourselves , but at Jesus. He is strong. Sanctification is a work of God.  John 17:17-  “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth”. Hebrews 10:14- “For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.” Strong's Definitions: ...
