Meditate on This - “He Gave Himself for Me.”

Keep a Quiet Heart ~ Elizabeth Elliot 

“ Let me remember when I question God’s dealings.
I don’t understand him, but then I’m not asked to understand, only to trust. Bitterness dissolves when I remember the kind of love with which He has loved me 
-He gave Himself for me.
He gave himself for me.
He gave himself for me.”

Whatever he is doing now, therefore, is not cause for bitterness. It has to be designed for good, because He loves me and gave Himself for me.” (End quote)

Meditate on this truth . ‘ He gave Himself for me. “
Get it so ingrained in your heart. That you never doubt the way He leads you. 
Psalms 25:9-10 says
‘ The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches His way.
All  the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth...”

He can be trusted. We must trust him. 

The enemy comes and like Eve whispers into our ears “ does God love you? Really? Why would he make you suffer  like this? Is this really his best ? Can you really trust his word? 

He is a liar & a deceiver. 

Elizabeth gives some scripture references for when we ask God “why?”.

1 Peter 4:12-13 , Romans 5:3-4; 2 Corinthians 12:9; John 14:31; Romans 8:17; Colossians 1:24. 
I agree with her that asking God “why” is not sinful. It is resentment against God and the way he deals with us that is. 

“He gave Himself for me.” I know He can be trusted.

This is my response to a post on a  Pastor’s page ( his response was he was saddened for his “dismissal “) to his response about the news on Carl Lentz being fired from his position. -Forgive me and I say this with much respect - You are saddened to hear of his “dismissal “?!   Why not call it what it is . I’m saddened that he committed an adulterous relationship .  Aren’t you?  I’m saddened that another marriage has been dreadfully violated. I’m saddened that another man of God ,   fell to the temptations of the flesh .
